Sales Coach Premium Install Guide

Step 1: Go to the Sales Coach Premium AppExchange listing and click “Get it Now”.

After you click the “Get it Now” button, you will be asked to confirm whether you are a Salesforce customer and whether you are the administrator or not.  It will also ask if you want to install in your sandbox or production instance. Once you click continue from there, you will be brought to a familiar Salesforce login screen. You will enter the login credentials of whichever Salesforce environment you want to install Sales Coach Premium into.

 

Step 2: Installation and Deployment

salesCoachInstall2After you put in your login and password, you will be brought to the following screen.  This page shows you what is included in the Sales Coach Premium package. Click continue to install. On the next few pages you will see and confirm what parts of Salesforce the application will come in contact with.  You can also choose whether to deploy the application to just admin users or to all users.  Finally, on the last page, there will be an Install button. Once the Install button is clicked, you’re almost done with the installation.

 

Step 3: Configuration

First, you will want to create some “playbooks” for your sales people.  You can do that by clicking on the drop down menu in the top right (app selector), and choosing “Sales Coach Premium”.  Then you can click on the Sales Coach Setup tab.

The setup tab should show you two pick lists at the top.  One is for record type, and the other is for the opportunity stage. (If you don’t use record types, only the stage picklist will show up.).

To create a playbook, choose the desired combination of record type and stage, then start adding checklist items and sections.  Make sure to click the “Save Changes” button periodically.

When you add a Section, you will notice that you can add “Section Items”.  These items have an optional URL field.  If you leave the URL field blank, the text will simply display.  If you put a URL in the field, it will make the text a link that goes to your supplied URL.

salesCoachInstall4Once you are ready to share your “playbooks” with your sales people, you will want to add the “Sales Coach” button to the opportunity page layouts.

To do this go to: Setup->App Setup->Customize->Opportunities->Page Layouts

Click on the “Edit” link next to any page layouts that you want to add the Sales Coach button to. Now you can add the “Sales Coach” button to the page layout.  Then click Save. Alternatively, if you want to simply have the Sales Coach page viewable directly on the Opportunity (or Lead/Account/Contact) page, you can click and drag the visualforce page called “Sales Coach Viewer” onto the appropriate page layout.  It is recommended to create a new section for this visualforce page that is 1 column wide and has the “show scrollbars” option.  You can experiment with how much vertical space is needed, but 400 to 600 px is a good start.

 

Step 4: Permissions

There are two ways to setup permissions.  The easiest way is by using the included Permission Sets (version 1.16 and later).  You will simply assign the “Sales Coach Premium Admin” or “Sales Coach Premium User” permission set to each user based on what level of access you want to give them.  If you choose to use the permission sets, you’re all done and can skip the rest of this guide.  Otherwise, follow the rest of the setup instructions below.

The last step is to add permissions to the Sales Coach Visualforce pages and objects for any Profiles that will be accessing the Sales Coach button.  (This is only required if you have custom Profiles in Salesforce.  This is typically for Enterprise edition and higher, but can also sometimes be included in Professional edition.)

To get to your profiles go to: Setup->Administration Setup->Manage Users->Profiles

On any profile page, you will scroll all the way to the bottom to see a list of Enabled Visualforce Pages. You will need to add the SalesCoachPremo.SalesCoachViewer and SalesCoachPremo.SalesCoachLeadViewer pages to this list.

Also make sure that each profile has full (read/create/edit/delete) access to the following custom objects : Checklist Items, Sections, Section Items, Stages.  Also add permissions to the fields under each object.  For a full breakdown of the permissions needed, see our FAQ
